Natural Variety in Color – Since the Asian walnut hardwood exhibits a naturally wide variety in color, it's better to request for two sample boards so you can envision how the finished floors will look like. Some individuals expect a certain level of uniformity in their flooring, while others enjoy the distinctive color gradients that Asian walnut hardwood flooring usually exhibit. For a more comprehensive peek at how the finished product will appear, you can try buying a box of boards and go about arranging them on your floor. This way, you should be more or less sure on whether or not you will be using Asia walnut hardwood for your home. If you decided otherwise, you will have only spent a fraction of the actual cost of flooring for the entire project.
To date, there are two basic types of hardwood flooring, solid wood and engineered wood. With many variations of engineered wood floors available, choosing the correct wood floor can be at best, confusing and frustrating. Whereas the terminology associated with ”hardwood”, often results in purchasing a floor that does not fit allotted budget guidelines or installation limitations to which the floor is intended, not all hardwood floors are in-fact; ”natural hardwood”. Purchasing and installation of a wood floor not designed for a specific purpose will often lead to replacement and loss of expenditures of funds previously applied.
Knowing how to clean hardwood floors is important because the bane of hardwood is dirt and grit, which will scratch and mark the floor if not removed promptly. As well, dust is seen more easily on wood floors than it is on linoleum or on carpet, especially in the sunlight and especially if the floor has a dark stain. Hardwood floor care, therefore, means sweeping and dusting regularly – once a week, at least, and after any event that leaves dirt and grit behind. Regular household dusting and cleaning products will cause damage, however, and you must use only products specifically designed for hardwood. Vacuuming is preferable to sweeping because it allows the dirt and dust to be pulled from between the boards, but use a vacuum with a bare floor attachment, not a beater bar, which can damage the wood.
What is the moisture content of the flooring? Moisture content is a very important factor when installing hardwood flooring. You need the flooring to be at a proper moisture level for your home/interior climate which is typically between 6-9% moisture content. Installing hardwood flooring with a moisture content that is too high will cause spaces in the floor when the flooring dries out, and installing a hardwood floor that is too dry will result in cupping when the flooring picks up moisture. If the retailer selling you flooring does not have a moisture meter and can check the moisture for you then I would suggest you run. The majority of people selling hardwood flooring know very little about wood and moisture, if they don't even have a moisture meter, that is a sign that they are not professional and know nothing or very little about hardwood flooring and shouldn't be selling it.
